EXCITING NEWS AT KADAM !!!!!
My name is Debbie Howell and I recently took over at the studio. Rachel Salvagione has plans that may take her out of the area so she decided to pass along the studio to one of her long time students – me!! I am both thrilled at this opportunity and a little sad should Rachel decide to leave us. In the meantime Rachel, along with her daughter Kate, is still teaching the Enameling classes (so be sure to register for the coming up classes). Plus Rachel will be teaching the wire weaving class after the first of the year, which I have been wanting to learn for a long time.
For those of you who don’t know me, I signed up many years ago online through Community Education for what looked like an interesting class called ‘Intro to Glass Fusion’ which was taught by Rachel at Dilworth Middle School. I was immediately hooked and from that date to now, I have worked on expanding my knowledge of glass, from fused glass to stained glass to even a little dabbling in beadwork. My current focus for my own artwork is creating realistic pictures in both fused and stained glass. An example of a recent piece completed is shown at left.
Most of all, I am very excited at now being able to pass along knowledge, through teaching at the studio, to others who find glass as interesting as I do. For those of you interested in stained glass, we now have a dedicated room for stained glass that includes several soldering stations and a large cabinet containing LOTS of stained glass as well as solder, flux and more. Also check out the Fused Jewelry classes as new techniques that haven’t been taught at Kadam before will be included.
